Lilly Celebrates Its 35th Year as a Supporter of the Indiana Black Expo

--Lilly looks beyond medicine to help community

INDIANAPOLIS, July 10, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) is planning something a little different for this, its 35th year of support for the Indiana Black Expo (IBE) Summer Celebration, including a partnership with Dress for Success Indianapolis and a presence at the IN Shape Indiana Black and Minority Health Fair that will offer visitors unique ways to stay healthy in these uncertain economic times.

An example of this move to promote overall health and well-being will be seen at Lilly's health fair booth where information related to chronic diseases, and cost-effective resources will be available as will a soul food recipe sampler and nutritional pyramid.

"We owe it to our families and ourselves to take steps toward living healthier," said Bruce Hill, diversity recruiting manager, at Lilly. "Lilly is ready to help by offering unique and cost-effective ways to maintain healthy living habits."

Employment Fair

"This year IBE attendees can expect something a little different," said Hill. "We understand that in order to truly help, Lilly must offer more than medicine and focus on a person's overall health, well-being and, in these trying times, their ability to market themselves to prospective employers."

Lilly will have a presence at the WTHR-13 Employment Opportunity Fair and Employment Opportunity Workshop where participants can learn the proper ways to interview, including what not to wear. This event represents another Lilly partnership as it has teamed with RCR Technologies and Dress for Success Indianapolis.

Live broadcast

In order to get the word out about the IN Shape Indiana Black and Minority Health Fair, as well as discuss its dedication to diversity and developing healthcare options that are meaningful to improving the quality of life of all patients, Lilly will broadcast the Afternoons with Amos radio show live from its corporate headquarters in Indianapolis on July 14, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The live broadcast can be heard on WTLC-AM 1310.

"We are going to be breaking barriers," said Amos Brown, Indiana Hall of Fame Broadcaster and host of Afternoons with Amos. "This will be only the second time we have broadcasted the show from a Lilly facility, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to speak with Lilly employees about their participation in IBE as well as to gain a better understanding about what diversity means to Lilly."
